Windy City Part II

There is nothing like a mid-west thunder storm. Growing up in Ohio I can remember watching the heavy rain and bold lightning outside the window, followed by roaring thunder a few minutes later. This week was no exception to that memory.
With start of the day being bright and sunny to then within a matter of ten minutes being swallowed in a cloudy darkness of a thunderstorm I was in awe of how beautiful and amazing nature is!

Off to the Windy City

This week I am off to visit Chicago to see some family. I'm excited not only to spend some time with my brother, dad and step mom... but also to get out of Seattle and get some much needed R&R!! I was hoping for hot summer weather, but seemed to bring the rain and 70 degree weather with me.

Luckily Sunday was warmer, dry and sunny so we made it out to the Italian Festival. (Right off Taylor street I have stepped into Jersey!) We definitely ate our weight in food there!! And finished it off with funnel cake!! Not quite Italian, but my favorite street fair food.

We then headed to Lake Michigan for a nice stroll on the boardwalk with the dogs!

Claire was having the time of her life running around and rolling in the sand.

My little brother!!!

Awwww... wet sandy doggy beard!

The view and weather makes me want to pick up and move here! And Claire seemed to love the wind and water in her face! I just love this place!!

Wear to go from here... apartment hunting along Lakeshore Drive?!

Show and Tell

I love the idea of blogs with daily outfits, but it just isn't something that is feasible for me. I am lacking in several key pieces that those other girls with daily outfit blogs have...

A. I do not have a fancy SLR camera or mad photoshop skills (A work in progress & budget)
B. I do not have a roommate, live-in boyfriend or fiance to take my picture daily (the down side of living alone)
C. I am not in a cute outfit everyday! (I choose the snooze button over fashion some days! Who am I kidding... most days!)

That being said I was headed out to dinner with a friend and she suggested we take some pictures for my blog since she was there to be my photographer. So here is my first attempt at showing off my fashion on the blog!
Ok here is the outfit run down...
CLOTHES: jeans- forever 21, top & tank- BP Nordstrom, scarf- Echo, flats- H&M,
ACCESSORIES: crossbody-Abas, watch- Michael Kors, bracelets- Sequin & Nadri, earrings- Argento Vivo, sunglasses- Prada
Wear to go from here... photoshop class maybe... or the camera store!
(mom, dad...Christmas idea! hint hint!!)

My love of all things food

Another nice relaxing weekend in Seattle! The weather turned out to be very sunny and warm (actually felt like summer!!) and there was lots going on around town. It was Seafair, so naturally there is more traffic and way more people out. Instead of heading out on a boat I headed to the Lakecity street fair near my house. Had some fair-food (a total guilty pleasure of mine) and people watched the lovely residents of Lakecity. There was even a group of pirates with there ship to walk in the parade. Not sure how that fits with Seafair, but I wish I could have snapped a picture of them, they were entertaining!! But I did snap iPhone pictures of all the food I ate! Needless to say I was eating good food all weekend long.
Even did a chicken & shrimp BBQ at home that was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!
But I think the best food all weekend was Sunday Brunch at Monsoon, a Vietnamese restaurant on Capital Hill. I had the Dungeness Benedict and it was to die for! I totally ate the whole thing!!
Wear to go from here… the GYM!!! (Work off those calories!)

Wedding Bliss

Last week my friend's wedding whirlwind weekend was so much fun. I finally am getting around to posting some pictures!
It was two full days prep, primping and parties, but so much fun!
The wedding was perfect and it was great to see family, old friends, reconnect with new friends and be there for two of my closest friends while they share their special day.
And the rest of the weekend was fun and calm just hanging out with my mom. We went out to dinner,  to a mariners game, and just sat and had long conversations about everything going on in our lives. It was an amazing weekend!

(Man I have been on a wedding kick lately!)

Wear to go from here... back to normal Megs life! (unfortunately!)

Dress Dreaming

Since so many of my friends have been on the ‘wedding train’ lately I started thinking about what mine would be like someday. Of course I am missing the main ingredient… a man! But I have confidence that some day I will be there too!

One of my favorite wedding blogs (yes since I had friends sending me constant link to sites, I have started visiting regularly) is Style Me Pretty. It has weddings from all over and tons of pictures, inspirations, ideas, and even lists of wedding vendors. Since I have no use for that (yet) I just like to browse once in awhile and look at all the pretty weddings.

I found this dress and it encompasses everything I would image in my dream dress!
Lots of sparkle and tulle!

Check out the rest of this wedding…

Wear to go from here… out of my wedding dream! (For now…)
