Going to the Chapel...

Going to the chapel and we're... gonna get MAR-RRRR-IED!!

Today is one of my closest friend's BIG DAY! I am so excited for her and she found her perfect match, a guy who compliments her so well and she is madly, head over heels, in love!!!

I have known A for about 10 years! We met back in high school yearbook class. We soon became friends and have had some great times together... as my soccer buddy at the bf's games, to my first college party I ever attended, to my roommate for 3 years and most recently, my emergency contact neighbor! She has always been there for me and I am so excited to share this moment with her!

Just looking back through the years at the fun times we had!

I love you and wish you all the best!!

Feeding the Redecorating Bug

I just signed another year lease at me apartment on July 1st, so that makes 2 years there and one to go! I really love my apartment minus a few small issues. But it’s a MIL in a daylight basement with lots of windows and a view of lake Washington, so I can’t complain about the small things too much.

I have been toying with the idea of re-decorating and love lots of color!! Although I love all the blues and naturals that are popular right now I can’t seem to never shy away from RED! It’s my favorite color and it’s splashed all over my house! I aspire to make it a bit more concentrated and have an actual theme to my decorating like you see in the magazines and on TV. So I have been cutting out and bookmarking pictures I have found for my inspiration for someday re-decorating my house! Since I can’t hire a decorator I will need to get my own inspiration and ideas. More to follow as I find ideas!!

Celebrity Inspiration

One of my favorite Reality Celebrities is Lauren Conrad. I have been watching her since her reality days back on Laguna Beach. Since then she has really developed into a full blown fashion icon! I am always looking to her style for my own fashion inspiration. One of my favorite dressy summer looks is shorts!! (recall the sequin post a few weeks ago) I love wearing them with silky flowy tops and heels so this outfit is one of my go to summer dress up looks.
Wear to go from here…the office, date night, cocktails?! This look is so versatile!

Weekend Staycation

After my weekend plans didn't work out due to weather I decided to take a much needed 'staycation' and lock myself inside my apartment to tackle some much needed cleaning, laundry, experimenting with some baking and catching up on some wii netflixs! I practically didn't talk to anyone and got so much done.

I documented my weekend events with my iPhone and favorite picture app Hipstamatic. I love how the pictures come out! They look so artsy and fun without having to fiss with photoshop or camera settings!
Friday night/Saturday:
I love cherries and ate an entire bag over the weekend.
Made some pineapple cupcakes from my new cookbook Friday night, and again turned out great! Will post that recipe later this week.
Claire taking a nap on the couch while I watched TV!
My weekend essentials... ipad, wii & tv remote!

Sunday :
I made some Morning Glory Muffins from a William Sonoma kit I bought a few weeks back.
Washed my make-up brushes, love freshly cleaned brushes!
Claire on my lap excited for another full day at home with me!
A breakfast smoothie - Chocolate, Raspberry & Banana! Yummy!!

Hope you all had a good weekend too!

Edible Pink Lemonade

Experimenting with my new cupcake cookbook '101 Gourmet Cupcakes in 10 Minutes' (thanks A for the b-day gift!) I decided to try a Pink Lemonade Cupcake. This book is great because it takes boxed cupcakes and adds other ingredients to make them "gourmet". Which is great for me since I can seem to never master baking unless it comes from a box.
Here is the recipe I used...
1 box white cake mix
1/3 cup pink lemonade concentrate
1/2 cup buttermilk
3 eggs
2-3 drops of red food coloring
1 can of cream cheese frosting

**I need a better camera to photograph in my small dark kitchen. Added to my wish list!**

Happy to say, they turned out deliciously and I couldn't be happier!
I even dyed the frosting blue for a Fourth of July party.

Dreaming Couture

This week is Couture Fashion Week in Paris. Designers like Armani Prive, Chanel, Elie Saab and Valentino (just to name a few) all get together to show off their most dramatic and remarkable Haute Couture fashion.

Haute Couture is high fashion or “high-sewing” that is made for a specific customer and tends to be high quality, luxurious fabric with lots of hand sewn detail. These items are expensive and made to order for customers that usually consist of royalty, celebrities and affluent socialites. Couture fashion sets the trends and fashions for the upcoming seasons that trickle down into a more ready-to-wear fashion for the everyday!

Just to show off a few styles I am lusting after...
if only I had a million dollars or a red carpet to walk!

P-Town Weekend of Food

This past weekend I headed down to Portland for a bachelorette party for my good friend A and thirteen of our other friends. It was a lot of shopping, parting, girl talk, and of course with this bunch GOOD food is always a must! With the maid of honor J giving us a tour of the city and the best foodie places, we all had a weekend of pure glorious gluttony.

Here are some of the foods I enjoyed... Blue cheese bacon burger, fish tacos, asparagus/pea tortellini and a salmon bagel. But no Portland trip would be complete without a Voodoo Doughnut stop for a bacon maple bar.

*Note*
I didn't get shots of all the food...I inhaled some before I could photograph, so some was pulled from online. Must get better at taking pics!

Ready for a Romp

Ready for a ROMP-ER? The 60's are back in full swing in the fashion world. But they are not the same rompers that your mom wore, despite what she says! But defiantly reminiscent of those wild and free days!

I love rompers (even though bathroom trips prove to be more time consuming) and I am so excited that they are back and I can pull out my ones from last summer that hadn't quite made it into main stream fashion. But once in awhile I am actually ahead of the trends. Romper styles are endless and there are short ones, long ones, silk ones and stripe ones... floral ones, cotton ones and casual ones oh-my!

Here are some styles I am loving right now.
There are rompers for every occasion... a day at the office or a day at the beach! So versatile and easy dressing, only one piece no matching tops and bottoms required.

Wear to go from here... Back to 1964! Yeah baby!

Daytime Sparkle

When recently told “I can’t wear those sequin Toms with everyday outfits, they are too sparkly!” I responded “Of course YOU CAN!!” As all my friends and family know I take any excuse to wear, use and flaunt anything sparkly and bedazzled. Weather it’s a bright sparkly scarf or a pair of reversible sequin shorts. (That’s right I said reversible… they can be silver or black)
Side Note: When I bought them my friend shopping with me rolled her eyes as I gasped at the magnificence of them!

The key is to ‘Day Sequins’ is to pair it with something more casual and toned down to make it more day appropriate. Like a blazer over this Blue JCrew tank or a plain white tee and tights with the sparkle shorts. You can even pair your sequin Toms with jeans, a tank and boyfriend sweater to give more pizazz to your outfit.

Here are some of my favorite sparkle-tastic items that can be worn/used with your day-to-day wardrobe!!
1. J Crew Sequin-striped cotton tank - $55.00
2. Forever 21 Sequin Leopard Cosmetic Bag - $7.80
3. Kitson Sequin Shorts with shash - $59.99
4. TOMS 'Classic Sequins' Slip-On - $84.95
5. Coach Poppy Sequin Cinch - $378.00
6. Steve Madden 'Bevv' Pump - $129.95
7. Antik Batik Aries sequin-trimmed printed cotton scarf - $285.00
8. Forever 21 Embellished Journal & Pen - $6.80

Wear to go from here... the disco? Just kidding I wear my sequins to the office!
